Wanted: a few good reporters
In the lighthearted videos above, former Quill staffers walk through the path that lead them to work for Carroll Community College’s student-run newspaper – and offer some insight as to why you might want to join it.
The-Quill is always looking for talented students to join its ranks. Not looking to become a journalist? We understand – many of us aren’t either. But no matter what your intended major or job field, we have something that will make your portfolio more impressive: be it the ability to edit video, create podcasts, interview VIPs, or write clearly and effectively in a professional style.
You’ll leave our paper with a résumé that you can show off to transfer schools and scholarship committees, experience in a real newsroom setting, and a network of like-minded students and professionals to help you as you transition into your professional career, whatever that might be. You’ll also make friends and use professional quality equipment. Select staffers will attend the College Media Association’s student conference – this year’s is in New York City’s Times Square.
All of our print editors have gone on to the transfer school of their choice with generous scholarship packages, in part no doubt to their efforts on The-Quill.
Think you might want to join? You have a few options available to you. You can fill out this form, e-mail the Editor-in-Chief, or visit us in the newsroom – A221 – on any Tuesday during the fall semester at 5PM!
