Carroll Community College(CCC) will be hosting its annual American Red Cross blood drive in the Student Center on October 13 and October 14 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Heather Diehl, coordinator of the blood drive, was asked about the turn out to the blood drive on a feast-to-famine scale. Diehl said,“Definitely a feast! In the past couple of years we have had or exceeded our goal for each drive.”
The entire process takes about an hour to an hour and a half, depending on each donor. In order to donate a pint of blood, certain age and weight requirements must be met, as specified on the Red Cross website. There will be a refreshments table with water, juice and snacks for those donating blood.
“I think that everyone who is eligible to donate blood should strongly consider it,” Heather said. “Blood is needed constantly to save lives, not just when natural disasters happen. And if you decide to donate at this drive, you will get a coupon for a free Firehouse Sub!” Heather is not only organizing the event, but will also be donating at the drive.
Donors are not restricted to only students; the Red Cross is welcoming everyone in the community. For more information on the blood drive, students can go to the Student Life Office in room A118.
